    • Nils kjøpte gården (nord Huse, 623-2) av foreldrene allerede i 1860 for ellers ville faren selge gården til fremmede. Han tok over gården for gjelda på 900 daler. I tillegg føderåd Tomassen og mora til hun døde i 1911. [1]
    • For å klare å betale gjelda, tok Nils på seg mange oppgaver for det offentlige liv, mer eller mindre godt betalt. Han sa selv at han var i offentlig tjeneste på forskjellige måter i 42 år. Dette tok mye tid så gårdsarbeidet falt mye på kona. Ingen av barna ville overta gården og den ble da solgt i 1911 til Bernt Kjos. Nils og Antonette (som ble mest blind i 1900) flyttet først til en datter i Gjøvik, så til en sønn i Øyer. [3]
